The main goal in Middle School Art class is to introduce students to the fine arts of the past centuries as a reflection of cultural and social history.
Specifically, the class seeks to
- engage students in the practical artistic experience through a wide variety of art techniques, methods, and approaches
- introduce students to the most important kinds of art, such as still life, landscape and portrait
- allow students to create with a variety of materials, including heavy body acrylics, watercolors, oil and soft pastels, charcoal, ink, and ceramic low-fire clay
